DELAYED CORD CLAMPING

The Smallest moment can have the biggest impact on a child’s life.

Isn’t the umbilical cord amazing?
Delivering oxygen and vital nutrients to allow your baby to grow in your body
Delayed / deferred cord clamping allows extra blood to be transferred from the placenta, increasing the amount of iron transferred to your newborn baby.

I had a planned C-section due to Breech Positioning.

Thinking of this day when everyone in the delivery room was eagerly waiting to hear my baby girl’s voice. I was lying on the stretcher half covered with a sheet. I had a spinal block that numbed my lower half and I was still awake and cognizant of what was happening during surgery.

I remember my newborn daughter’s first cry. It was so magical it will be in our hearts forever.
My doctor said “Hye! Prisha” and moved her fingers gently to make P laugh.
She instructed everyone to wait for some while as we had discussed Delayed Cord Clamping before the surgery.

At the moment a baby is born, 1/3 of their blood is still outside their body.
If you delay cord clamping for 90 seconds they get 60% more blood cells.
They get enough iron to last them through their first year.
They get white blood cells to fight infection.
They get antibodies
They get stem cells to help repair the body
