THE LIGHT REMAINS

On April 6th 2021, we got a phone call. It was my Father-in-law’s voice. we heard him murmur but the line was not clear or there was static. My husband asked him if everything was okay it’s early morning and he said “Mom passed away”

Me and my husband were unable to process, the loss was unexpected and tragic we went into DENIAL.

According to Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

“When we lose a loved one we all move through 5 distinct stages of Grief”

We went into DENIAL. Because the loss was so unthinkable.
We couldn’t imagine it was true.
We became ANGRY with everyone, angry with ourselves.
Then we BARGAIN, we begged, we pleaded, we offered everything we have.
We literally were offering our souls in exchange for just one more day.

When BARGAIN failed and the ANGER was too hard to maintain.
We fell into DEPRESSION / DESPAIR.
In those moments we tend to pull inward as the sadness grows.
Dealing with DEPRESSION after the loss of a loved one can be extremely Isolating.

Until finally we have ACCEPT that we have done everything we can.
We let go, we let go. And move into ACCEPTANCE.

HAPPY 65th BIRTHDAY MOM!

We haven’t fully processed the pain of losing her, and I doubt we ever fully will.
