Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Pregnancy Journey by Ellie, UK.
Ellie was diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis in her early 20s. Anxious and Terrified Ellie took some Courageous decisions and underwent a lot of lab work, procedures and six Laparoscopy surgeries in the past ten years.
When asked Ellie, what exactly is Endometriosis?
This is how she described her Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Journey :
It’s when you’re diagnosed with a chronic, incurable disease at the age of 18 and feeling completely lost. It’s when you’re constantly dismissed by health professionals and you feel like breaking. It’s being told you need to think about starting a family at the age of 21 else who knows what will happen. It’s being told your only choice is to go through the chemical menopause at the age of 23 but firmly refusing, hoping it’s the best thing to do. It’s putting yourself through 6 surgeries within 10 years just to try and give yourself the same quality of life as others your age. It’s the constant missing out on life events/fun times and feeling frustrated and let down with your body. It’s that moment you find out you’re pregnant at 29 after being told your whole adult life that you will have trouble conceiving. It’s an indescribable feeling of amazement, fear, disbelief and happiness. It’s suffering from high anxiety throughout your pregnancy, due to many factors including your complex gynae history and previous traumas.
It’s been a ride, but it’s not quite over yet.
Thank you for sharing your story with Momshubbub and bringing Endometriosis and Adenomyosis the awareness it deserves!
Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Frequently coexist, Adenomyosis is often misdiagnosed, mainly because its symptoms – painful periods, irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, etc. vary from person to person. Many women have mild symptoms and aren’t educated about Endometriosis and Adenomyosis and often remain undiagnosed.
