AWARENESS IS THE FIRST STEP IN HEALING

Endometriosis Journey by Alexandria, NYC

WHAT IS ENDOMETRIOSIS?

A disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus. With endometriosis, the tissue can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or the intestines. The most common symptoms are pain and menstrual irregularities.

Endometriosis is a common gynecological condition, blood can become embedded in the normal ovarian tissue, forming a “blood blister” surrounded by a fibrous cyst, called an endometrioma.

Alexandria talked about her journey with Endometriosis:

I’ve waited 4 years for today, Today was finally the day I was able to get some answers. My fallopian tubes were completely blocked with endometriosis.

My ovaries, uterus, pelvis and rectum were covered in endometriosis as well.

My appendix is finally out. I’m not crazy & I’m not complaining for nothing.

Today validated all I’ve ever fought for. After countless doctors dismissing my pain, I finally found one who took me seriously. Here’s to the next chapter of healing and recovering.
